Publisher to charge $2 for digital paper

DIGITAL replicas of the printed newspaper, costing $2 to access, have been launched by Advertiser Newspapers in Adelaide.

Managing Director Michael Miller said subscriptions could be bought for three, six or 12 months.

He told his own newspaper, the Adelaide Advertiser: “We expect many businesses who want to keep an electronic copy of the paper will subscribe to the service,” Mr Miller said.

“It’s also for people who are travelling and want to see a full copy of the paper in the proportions and design in which it has been published.

“We don’t see this as replacing the printed copy. It just offers the paper an alternative form that some people might find more convenient.”

The Advertiser is naming the product “Smart Editon”.

Subscribers to the print edition will have to pay extra for the digital newspaper. To get a free one-day trail go to: http://adelaideadvertiser.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx
