Fairfax teams with ninemsn on property portal

December 2, 2008

FAIRFAX Digital’s property brand, Domain.com.au, has teamed with ninemsn in its latest distribution agreement, the company announced today.

The residential real estate website’s listings will now reach ninemsn.com.au’s 8.2 million monthly readers. The deal prevents ninemsn from carrying any other property listings.

Domain.com.au has a similar agreement in place with online classifieds giant ebay.com.au.

“The widespread reach of the Ninemsn network combined with the strength of the Fairfax Digital network will deliver significant benefits for both parties,” Fairfax Digital Chief Operating Officer, Nic Cola, said.

BUSINESS media is finding a silver lining on the world’s financial dark cloud, with Singapore’s Business Times achieving record sales in the month of September.

The Singapore Press Holdings title took its average daily paid circulation up to an all-time high of more than 35,800, a 2.3 percent jump on August figures and a 5.7 percent rise compared to September last year, Business Times reported.

The paper relaunched its weekend edition on September 6 in a compact format with more emphasis on personal finance and lifestyle. Weekend sales rose a massive 26.3 percent on last year’s figures.

“Since the financial crisis broke out in September, people have been paying more attention to news to stay informed. Such business news is what BT provides so well,” said Singapore Press Holdings executive vice-president of circulation Chua Wee Phong.

The daily’s previous sales peak was in January 1994, when it sold 35,600 copies a day, the report said.
